Aliv Ladoo or Halim seeds ladoo is an amazing and highly nutritious super food. Aliv seeds are called Garden cress seeds. Benefits of garden cress seeds are enormous.

Basically aliv seeds ladoo is a traditional Maharashtrian sweet, made during winter season. This nutritious ladoo is prepared from iron rich garden cress seeds, jaggery, grated coconut, ghee and some dry nuts. Garden cress seeds are rich in iron, calcium, folate, vitamin A,C,E, fiber & proteins.

Further these ladoos are specially made for lactating mothers to boost the milk production. But also good for growing kids & those who suffer from anemia & lack of vitamins.

Furthermore, this healthy aliv ladoo is not only good for nursing mother, but also a super food for overall health of every person. Eat one ladoo per day with a glass of milk for good results. Moreover, you can consume Aliv/garden cress seeds in any of the form, like kheer, or preparing this kind of ladoo or simply boil with milk by adding jaggery & cardamom seeds/powder.

Most importantly, aliv seeds have a particular smell of its own. So to minimize that smell, soak it in coconut water / milk / regular water before making anything from aliv seeds.

Even more the making of aliv ladoo is so simple. Only the thing is you have to soak it in coconut water/water for 1 to 2 hours before making. And once the halim seeds are soaked well, then add jaggery, grated coconut, ghee & keep on mixing until it comes to ladoo texture. The ghee, jaggery & coconut makes it healthy & delicious in taste. Finally add chopped dry nuts or powdered dry nuts.

Additionally, here I have added nutmeg powder & cardamom seeds. Because nutmeg has a nice aroma & when you bite the ladoo, you will feel refreshing because of whole cardamom seeds. Then shape into balls and store it in an airtight container. This ladoo stays good for 4 to 5 days at room temperature & you can freeze it for 15 days in the refrigerator.
