Agnimantha is an Ancient ayurvedic medicinal plant, which has been used in India from vedic period. Agnimanth is a sanskrit name. Agni means “fire” and mantha means “churning”. It has different names in differnt languages. In Kannada – it is called as Arani, Taggi beru, Taggi gida, In Telgu – Nelli and In Tamil – Munnay respectively.

Further agnimantha root is one among the ten roots (Dashamoola) in ayurvedic medicine. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-rheumatic & analgesic properties. Moreover agnimantha root is effectively useful in treating variety of diseases like skin disorders, inflammations, jaundice, piles, gulma, painful urination and retention of urine. Mainly used in treatment of all types of vata disorders, inflammatory disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, common cold and loss of appetite.

In addition to this, Agnimantha root or taggi root tambuli is an effective medicine as well as tasty recipe for skin allergies like rashes, measles, small pox, itchy skin, hives etc. Basically it is prepared from taggi root, along with cumin and peppercorns. Usually it is served as a side dish with hot steamed rice. But you can also drink this tambuli as a soup. Mainly it is a yogurt based curry with medicinal properties. Also you can add curd or fresh buttermilk to make this tambuli. Here I have used fresh homemade buttermilk to make more healthy.

 Note : Most important thing is, this tambuli is more effective remedy for skin allergies. Many skin allergies are due to the impure blood in the body. So impure blood is the root cause for skin rashes, hives, infections etc. This medicinal root helps in purifying blood & protect skin.

How To Eat Agnimantha Root Tambuli As a Medicine For Skin Problems

Eat this Agnimantha root or taggi root tambuli as a first bolus of food and then have the normal food. If you have a skin allergies, then continue eating tambuli for 3 to 4 days until the skin allergy reduces.

  • Avoid junk foods, fried items when you have skin allergies
  • Drink plenty of water, that helps to flush out toxins from the body
  • Eat more blood purifying vegetables and fruits

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 10 to 15 black pepper
  • 8 to 10 Agnimantha (taggi) roots
  • ½ cup grated dry coconut (kopra)
  • ½ cup fresh butter milk
  • ½ tsp salt

For tempering:

  • 1 tsp ghee
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp hing (asafoetida)
  • 4 to 6 curry leaves

Instructions

  • Firstly, heat a pan on moderate flame and add ghee
  • As the ghee starts to melt, add in cumin, pepper corns and agnimanta (taggi) roots
  • Saute well for 2 mins until you get a nice aroma and turn off the heat
  • Next add grated dry coconut and mix well
  • Transfer this mixture to a blender with a little water
  • Blend this mixture to a fine paste
  • Now pour this blended mixture to a bowl
  • Further add butter milk or curd and salt
  • Give a good mix and keep it aside
  • Meanwhile heat a tempering pan and add ghee
  • Then add mustard, cumin, hing and curry leaves
  • Saute it for a minute until splutters and turn off the heat
  • Transfer the prepared tempering to taggi root tambuli
  • Now the healing Agnimantha Root Tambuli for skin allergy is ready to serve!
  • Eat this tambuli as a side dish with hot steamed rice or else drink it like a soup

  3. Saute well for 2 mins until you get a nice aroma and turn off the heat
