In a heating pot add chopped ash gourd, 1.5 cups of water, slit green chilli, curry leaves. Bring to boil for 5 to 8 min till ash gourd gets cooked.
Add grated cocont, soaked rice, cumin, black pepper and little water to a blender and make a fine paste
Now add this coconut paste to boiling ash gourd, mix well and cook for 5 mins
Lower the flame and add yogurt, mix well and turn of the heat
For tampering add coconut oil, mustard, cumin and curry leaves
Add this tampring to majjige huli and mix well
Enjoy ash gourd majjige huli with rice
