Firstly, soak split yellow moong dal & rice for 15 mins.
Next heat a cooker pot on moderate flame & add ghee.
Once ghee starts to melt, add cumin, red chilli, minced ginger & hing.
Saute all these for a minute.
Further add finely chopped onion and again saute well.
Similarly add finely chopped tomatoes and saute it until tomatoes are mushy.
Then add turmeric powder, soaked moong dal & rice.
Give a good mix and add 3 cups of water.
Also add salt and mix well.
Cover the lid and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
When the steam settles down completely, carefully open the lid.
Add little water if the consistency of the khichdi is too thick.
Finally garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
Now the healthy & comfort meal moong dal khichdi is ready to serve!
