Golden milk is a simple, delicious medicated drink to stay warm and healthy through the monsoon and winter seasons. Most importantly, this is an excellent alternative to coffee, tea and an amazing immune boosting drink.

Moreover, it is a soothing, warming, comfort health drink. The star ingredient of this golden milk is “turmeric” which has innumerable medicinal properties and widely used in Ayurveda.

Turmeric is also called as haridra or nisha in Sanskrit. It is bitter, astrigent & pungent in taste. Further more according to Ayurveda, turmeric is considered as “Tri-doshic”. Because it balances all the 3 doshas of Ayurveda, Namely vata, pitta and kapha.

So turmeric has many incredible health benefits in Ayurveda.

  • Boosts immunity
  • Reduce inflammations in the body
  • Blood purification
  • Detoxify the liver

Hence the golden milk is also known as evening tonic in Ayurveda. Certainly, it heals many health related problems.  Even more you can make golden milk with whole milk or any non diary milk, like almond milk, cashew milk, oat milk, coconut milk and hemp milk.

Also I have added black pepper while boiling turmeric milk. Black peeper contains a number of essential nutrients. It is a key to help the increased absorption of the curcumin. Most importantly curcumin is a compound in turmeric.

Further another ingredient is the ghee. Ghee acts a lubricant to the joints and also helps in sore throat. Even coconut oil can be used rather than ghee. Finally you can drink golden milk unsweetened. but I prefer it to be sweet. Therefore use 1 or 2 tsp of pure maple syrup or else any other sweeteners like, raw honey, agave, coconut sugar, palm jaggery etc.
